On 1st July 2021 on National Doctor’s Day, we remember all the doctors who lost their lives, who are still fighting, and who are trying to find a cure. The pandemic hit the world in 2019 and the first people to face this deadly virus were doctors. Alpha InfoLab salutes the heroes, all doctors and healthcare workers around the world who have been significant in this war against an invisible enemy.

History of National Doctor’s Day: When is Doctor’s Day?
The first National Doctor’s Day was celebrated on 1st July 1991 in the honor of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy for serving humanity and his immense contributions in the medical field.
Why doctor’s day is celebrated?
National Doctor’s Day is celebrated in memory of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, who was a renowned doctor. 1st of July is picked as the National Doctor’s Day as Dr. B.C. Roy was born on that day in 1882 and incidentally died on the same day in the year 1962.
Dr. B.C. Roy was instrumental in setting up the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the Indian Medical Association (IMA). He also had helped to establish various medical institutions like Chittaranjan Cancer Hospital, Chittaranjan Seva Sadan, Jadavpur T.B. Hospital, Victoria Institution (college), and Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital, among others.

The theme for National Doctor’s Day 2021 is “Save the Saviors”. Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi in his address to the nation on July 27th 2021 in “Mann ki baat” reminded the citizens to remember innumerable contributions made by doctors and corona warriors during the pandemic.
